Traumatic Brain Injury aka TBI and Food Selections

We are venturing into the Brain, on this post at a request from V [a computer tech].  to address health challenges related to areas of the brain and their body counter-parts.

More specifically, we will talk a bit about the occiput area where eyesight is housed, theoretically. Yet, according to Dr. Candace Pert, one of the first women physicians to produce study results at the National Institutes of Health, we have receptors throughout the body. Who knows exactly where the final resting place of our eyesight is translated and redistributed throughout the body channels leading to vision?

We are so complex and adaptive in our bodies that there have been, what are referred to as miracles recorded every day when a newly observed thing appears. WE learn to connect the ink on a printed page together to form and signal to our brain, where the vision is translated to chemical signals, which seek out the data to interpret the word into meaning. This works faster when it is a familiar item, such as this walnut. What if it is completely new and foreign. Babies begin without patterns of vision until they associated them with sounds, smells, touch and emotions, forming a pattern.

Yet, the miracles that each individual life is, can not be denied as distinct. Those of us who have birthed more than one child know this. Each child came with some of their own marks to be made in this lifetime that are unknown to even us, their parents.

So what happens when our database [The Brain] becomes shattered, the battery looses charge. There is a blue screen with nothing else on it. At one time, it was believed that there was no way to restore memory following a Traumatic Brain Injury.  Yet this too has proven false. There have been numerous cases where a significant shock damaged the brain, yet statistics show, over time that same brain can return to 'normal' functionality.  There can be an almost complete reversal of the impact's consequences other than the recovery time spent for the healing process to work.

Beyond all of this is scientific proof by not only Dr. Pert, we also have a living example in Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, cell biologist and author of several books. My current favorite,The Biology of Belief, may be a bit tedious for the average reader. The truth is Dr. Lipton and a number of his professional peers have proven it is NOT the DNA which triggers the body's response to a perceived invasion; it is our perception of that invasion or change in our environment represents a negative occurrence and requires a defensive response for survival. For another person, that same event may be perceived as a positive event, triggering a completely different response, which may include a cascade of dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins. This newly established scientific set of premises is now commonly referred to as Epigenetics.

What does this all mean? My own understanding is that we, as humans, have far more power and choice about how our bodies function, adapt, and recreate our functionality again, and then that cycle appears over and over as we adapt, and create new growth, pruning or additions in the development in our unique lives.

To bring this full circle for you as we have allowed ourselves to open our minds to a completely new horizon, what will we do now?

Here they are again in a consolidated format, which can be unzipped and used to treat thousands of maladies. I hope you will try it out and ask us questions how to do so.

Several long-recognized patterns that have been developed by multiple cultures over a very long period of time are the principles which are the underpinnings for FOOD PHYSICS & BODY DYNAMICS, to be used as a tool to assist in adapting and in the healing process.

The following are a couple of tips and suggestions about managing vision and eye challenges directly requested by V. Be sure to let me know which ones you choose to use and how they are working for you, or not.

Tip# 1. Try using yellow notepads, yellow highlighters, looking at yellow flowers, paint your dining room a shade of yellow. Why? Scientifically, the shapes cells on your retina [rods and cones] capture and translate light waves into data. It has been proven, more activity occurs when they are exposed to yellow light, compared to any other.

Tip #2. Eating dark leafy green vegetables regularly allows the liver organ system to clear out toxins and deliver cleaner, richer red bloods and helps to release the toxin build up in the liver as well.

Tip #3. Lastly, this has more to do with the circulation, and resting balance of the [6]6 tiny tendons that suspend and move the eyeballs to facilitate full vision. When using your vision function for long periods of time; stop every 10-15 minutes and roll your eyes, rotate your neck, look at something far away for a few moments, then something up very close. You are stimulating the blood in those adorable [6] tiny tendons, to revitalize your vision!

Always learning as we share our experiences.
May you and yours..Be In Good Health.
Best wishes, L Dawson, Dipl.Ac., L.Ac.

ACNE, PIMPLES, BLACKHEADS? - PUBERTY or WRONG FOOD CHOICES?

Often time, especially during puberty, the appearance of either blackheads or pimples, the white puffy kind, forms on the facial skin. This can happen most frequently around time when there is additional hormonal flare ups. For young women this can be associated with the onset or aftermath of their monthly menstruation, while in young males, it can be more often triggered by emotional stimulation. And for both young women and men, the foods they are choosing can exacerbate the condition [make it worse].

So how do you deal with these unpleasant and unattractive marks, when it seems you have little control over them! Just think of all the power these little dots on your face can wield.
Well, you may have more control over them if you apply some Food Physics & Body Dynamics [FPBD] principles. Here are a few ways to send the dots [acne] a’packin, leaving you with a clear complexion and even more pleasant attitude.

Two things FPBD principles guide you to consider using when bothered by these dotty bumps:
1.       Avoid any show or feelings of anger instead try any one or more of these techniques:
a.       Meditation, clear your mind
b.      Go for a walk, run, swim, hike, bike, garden, blow bubbles, and release your emotions
c.       Visualize good things, think happy thoughts, sing a happy song, hum
2.       Change the foods you choose to consume most often
a.       Learn to love, love, love, dark leafy green vegetables1.
b.      Avoid eating sweetened and spicy foods in the same meal2.

Your liver organ system is designed to manage the flow of hormones, both insulin [sugar/sweet food management] and to purify the blood to be circulated throughout all your body systems. Known as the General in Traditional Oriental Medicine, the quality of our liver function sets the stage for our daily life activities and is in a regenerative mode at night. So a good night’s sleep will also be helpful in reducing acne and is often missing in the lives of youth in development.

Oh and one more thing may be especially helpful; avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. For those of you who experience extra blotches compared with most of those around you, your bodies are in a very prolific, creative mode. So don’t rub your skin with dirt to create moundsJ, instead keep hands and face well washed with a mild soap. Avoid over-drying your skin with alcohol based soaps. As you can see, it is a balancing act, just like a teeter-totter on the playground, or a roller coaster or LIFE!

Learn to look for balance, it lies closer to the middle of up and down, hot or cold, high or low, tight or lose, joyful or sad. This can be a learning expertise in self-discipline, which is a real value. With self-discipline, you are bigger than those DOTS that used to glare at you in the mirror each morning.
1.
     1. The liver organ system loves green foods due to the cleansing nature of chlorophyll, often the primary factor in food with the color green. This can reduce toxins in the organ system.
a.       Dark green vegetable that are leafy, tend to be bitter. This bitter flavor is a natural diuretic; meaning it helps to reduce excess fluid in the body. Thus the purifying green is lifting the toxins to be drained from the body by bitter flavor;a truly lovely complimentary pair.
b.      Here are some dark leafy green to consider: artichokes, kale, collards, turnip greens, spinach, Swiss chard, green leaf teas, mustard greens, dandelion greens, watercress, chives and scallion greens.

2.

    2. The directions of both spicy and sweetened foods, tend to move the energy within the body systems upward and outward. This will direct any fluid or functions upward, lifting any toxins in the blood flow toward the facial area. Thus breakouts through the pores of the skin happen; Yuk!

a.       Both bitter and salty flavored foods will counteract the upward and outward movement of energy in the body, albeit water, blood, or lymph waste, and feces.
b.      Foods that are bitter as you will notice in footnote #1 can helpful. Although salty flavored foods move downward, too much of these foods or added salt at the table, can store water in the body and cause bloating.

Self-Disciple is important when eating extreme flavors. Too often this can cause the DOTS to reappear, where they can be great for special treats and moments of celebration.
MAY YOU BE IN GOOD HEALTH!
